Experience the Process

The Voitis single malt whiskey making process is a complex and intricate series of steps that requires careful attention to detail and preservation.

Malting

The Voitis single malt whiskey is made from malted barley, water, and yeast. The malting process is a crucial step in the production. It involves the soaking of barley in water, the germination of the barley, and the drying of the barley using heat. This process activates enzymes in the barley that convert the starches into sugars, which are then fermented by the yeast.

The malting process is an art that requires skill and patience. It can take up to a week for the barley to germinate and another two days to dry. During this time, our maltster carefully monitors the temperature and humidity levels to ensure that the barley does not spoil.

Mashing

The production of The Voitis single malt whiskey is a highly intricate process that involves several stages to transform the raw ingredients into the smooth, flavorful spirit we enjoy. One of the fundamental steps in the production is mashing. During the mashing phase, we carefully mix crushed grains, such as corn, barley, and rye, with hot water inside a large vessel called a mash tun. The goal of this step is to liquefy the starches within the grains and turn them into a sugary porridge, also known as the mash. Next, the mash is transferred to the next phase of the process, which is fermentation.

Here, yeast is added to the mash, which eats up the sugars and converts them into alcohol. The beverage is then distilled, aged in oak barrels, and finally bottled. Ultimately, the high-quality taste and complexity of The Voitis depends heavily on the mashing process, and as a knowledgeable distiller, we carefully monitor and adjust every step in the production chain.

Fermentation

During this particular stage, the yeast is added to the mixture of grains and water called the “mash.” The yeast breaks down the sugars in the mixture and transforms them into alcohol.

The fermentation process for The Voitis Single malt whiskey lasts for several days up to a week. This extended period allows the yeast to thoroughly break down the sugars, producing a more complex and richer flavor in the final product. The taste of The Voitis is largely determined by the quality of our fermentation process, which is why it is crucial for us to closely monitor the temperature and other conditions during this stage. Overall, our fermentation process is an essential step in making which contributes to the unique character and flavor that sets The Voitis single malt whiskey apart from the rest.

Distillation

This process involves heating the fermented mash to boiling point, which converts the alcohol into a vapor form. The vapor is then captured and condensed back into a liquid, which results in a higher proof whiskey. This process is repeated multiple times, resulting in a more refined and smoother product. Our distillation equipment influences the final product to produce its different characteristics. Aged in oak casks to impact the flavor profile bringing the end result that is a rich, flavorful spirit that is enjoyed by whiskey connoisseurs all over the world.

Maturation

Maturation is an important and intricate step in The Voitis production that can significantly affect the taste, aroma, and overall quality of the final product. During this stage, The Voitis single malt whiskey is aged in barrels made of oak wood for several years which contributes to its complexity, depth, and smoothness. The temperature and humidity of the storage environment also play a crucial role in the maturation process, as they influence the rate of chemical reactions and interactions between the whiskey and the barrel. As such, the maturation stage of making The Voitis requires precision, patience, and expertise to achieve desired results and produce outstanding whiskey.

Preservation

From the selection of grains to the final aging of the The Voitis single malt whiskey, every stage of the process is critical to ensuring the production of high-quality, flavorful spirits. In order to preserve the unique characteristics and nuances of the grain, we make it a priority to cautiously monitor the fermentation process, utilizing temperature controls and specialized yeast strains to create the ideal balance of flavors and aromas. Throughout the aging process, we continually monitor the whiskey to ensure that it is developing as intended, maintaining the delicate balance of flavors and aromas that make each batch of The Voitis single malt unique by taking great care to preserve the integrity of the whiskey making process, we have been able to produce a true masterpiece.
